ACA (Affordable Care Act) Insurance

This law is also known as Obamacare.

Who can apply?

● Immigrants legally present
● Citizens of the United States

When can I sign up?

Between November 1st and December 15th: You can renew, change or enroll for the plan to cover the period of January 1 through December 31. If you register between December 16 and January 15, insurance starts on February 1.

Special enrollment period: The first 60 days following a special event (such as getting married, having a new baby, moving out of network area, losing medical coverage, change of status, etc.)

What do these insurance plans cover?

All plans offered on the Health MarketplaceⓇ cover these 10 essential health benefits:
● Outpatient services (outpatient care you receive without being admitted to a hospital)
● Emergency services
● Hospitalization (such as surgery and overnight stays)
● Pregnancy, motherhood and newborn care (both before and after birth)
● Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment (this includes counseling and psychotherapy)
● Prescription medications
● Rehabilitation and habilitation services and devices (services and devices to help people with injuries, disabilities, or chronic illnesses obtain or regain mental and physical abilities)
● Laboratory services
● Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management
● Pediatric services
All plans under this law cover the treatment of pre-existing medical conditions.

How much do these insurance plans cost?

● It depends on where you live, your income, the number of people living in your family.
● Although all plans meet the minimum requirements required by the government, there are plans that have a broader network of services and benefits.

All cars in Utah must carry minimum insurance coverage of bodily injury and property damage liability insurance. Other options include comprehensive coverage, personal injury coverage, uninsured motorist coverage, and other coverages that cover different risks.

• Utah insurance laws also require $3,000 personal injury protection
